Most governments fall somewhere in between these two “extremes.” The United States falls in between, but leans more towards the laissez-faire end than the command end. For example, the US has systems like social security, welfare, and other socialized programs, but also maintains a strictly capitalist economy, especially in fields such as healthcare. The United States is classified as a mixed economy, or an economy which has both socialist and capitalist components.
